The northern fulmar is a common seabird in Iceland and a prominent member of
cliff-nesting bird communities. Although gull-like in appearance, it belongs
to the petrel family. Fulmars are graceful gliders, often soaring long
distances over the open ocean.
Their diet consists of fish, small marine organisms, and carrion found at the
sea surface. They breed on cliffs and are faithful to their nesting sites.
The northern fulmar can be seen around Iceland throughout the year.
