About Arctic Fox

The Arctic fox is the only native land mammal of Iceland. It is highly adapted to cold conditions and changes fur color with the seasons. Arctic foxes are found throughout the country.

Their diet is varied and includes birds, eggs, carrion, and small mammals. They live both alone and in pairs. The Arctic fox plays a key role in Iceland’s ecosystems.
