Berufjarðardalur is a scenic and fertile valley located at the inner end of Berufjörður fjord in East Iceland. The valley is surrounded by steep mountains and opens westward toward the fjord, creating a peaceful landscape shaped by rivers, springs, and lush vegetation.
The valley has been formed by glacial erosion and meltwater from the surrounding highlands. Its slopes display diverse geological features including basalt cliffs, scree slopes, and seasonal waterfalls that cascade down the mountainsides during spring and summer.
Berufjarðardalur is popular among hikers and photographers who seek quiet wilderness and dramatic scenery. Hiking routes lead through the valley and toward the eastern highlands, where wide open spaces and solitude dominate.
Nearby attractions include Berufjörður, Djúpivogur, Búlandstindur, and Djúpavogskörin.
Berufjarðardalur represents the essence of East Iceland’s landscape — a place of calm, green valleys framed by towering mountains and untouched nature.
